The curve.
The body follows the line from your ear to your mouth. Slide it down and the phone is already in call position. Slide it up and it is a 136 mm bar that sits flat in a pocket.
The slider is also the switch. Open, Mr. Smith is listening. Closed, he is not.
Real keys.
Twelve keys, a green one and a red one. T9 still works for the people who never forgot it. Hold the green key with the phone closed and Mr. Smith wakes up without the slide.
A small, sharp screen.
A 2.8-inch OLED, 480 × 640 panel. Big enough for a map, a message thread or an answer from Mr. Smith. Too small for an evening of scrolling, which is the idea.
A battery measured in weeks.
A 2,000 mAh cell gives 21 days on standby and 9 hours of conversation with Mr. Smith. A full charge over USB-C takes 75 minutes.
